Raise the Wage: Growing the Economy for Everyone
As of today, 195 House Democrats are sponsors of the Fair Minimum Wage Act (H.R. 1010), a bill introduced by Congressman George Miller, senior Democrat on the Education and the Workforce Committee, to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour and to increase the minimum amount of wages employers must pay tipped employees.
We are interested in hearing from individuals, organizations, and businesses from across the nation about how increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would affect working families’ income, spending in local economies, the quality and quantity of jobs, and the health of local communities.
We also want to hear from individuals who currently earn less than $10.10 per hour, and whether and how they are able to pay for the basics, such as utility bills, rent and groceries.
